Home Stay
Daily work hours vary, but most workdays are seven hours (from March until October when activities are based on maintenance) and up to ten hours (from November through February during harvest season). You’ll be given three meals a day with typical dishes from Costa Rica, one of which will be provided when you’re working on the farm, making this experience authentic and unforgettable.
Over recent years our harvest months, December through February (approximately), our local communities have been enriched with the presence and participation of Panamanian indigenous coffee pickers, who live on our farms while they work the harvest. During this season you are welcome to visit with them as they work, and witness interactions amongst Tarrazú community members and our seasonal workers. Some of them don’t speak Spanish and use their native dialect.
During your stay, you’ll share a home with a local Tarrazú farming family that speaks Spanish, opening doors to a unique cultural experience. You will partake in family meals, help with housework and more.
Your role will extend beyond visitor, as you will help with daily tasks in maintaining healthy coffee plants, either with family members or our workers (as you will be visiting our family farm to work even if you are staying with another family, and we will transfer from the house to the farm and vice versa).
No need to worry if you are not fluent in Spanish, as we will help you with communication through our specialized guide service. You may also request to have a personal guide with you, should you need further personal assistance.
