The Quetzales National Park
National Park Day Trip:
Visit to Los Quetzales National Park.
As the youngest national park in Costa Rica, the park takes its name from the quetzal, a beautiful and mythical bird that is very difficult to observe in the wild. Fortunately, Tarrazú is located near a mountainous area where the Quetzal can often be seen in its natural habitat. In order to protect this beautiful bird and its natural surroundings, this area has been declared as a national park. Other native birds flourish in this area and can easily be sighted from any of the many hiking trails.
